THE FULL STORY
From a young age living in Greece, I was always drawn to the entertainment arts. I grew up watching re-enactments of ancient Greek plays performed in historically preserved theaters and would often come home to stage my own backyard productions with friends.
At six years old, I moved to New York City, where I had greater access to television, film, and art. These experiences not only helped me understand English and American culture but deepened my fascination with storytelling. I spent countless evenings watching black-and-white Greek New Wave cinema with my father, gradually shifting my interest from theater to film and television. This passion led me to attend The High School of Art & Design, where I continued to focus on Film & TV.
I pursued higher education at the Savannah College of Art and Design, earning my B.F.A. in Film & Television in 2018. While at SCAD, I explored storytelling through various media—film, photography, and painting—but found my greatest fulfillment in documentary filmmaking, using film as both an educational and artistic tool.
After graduation, I worked in the film industry for several years. While I enjoyed the work, the long hours and the challenges of union membership made me reconsider my path. Seeking more sustainability, I transitioned into my current role at Materials for the Arts (MFTA), a program of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. At MFTA, I continue my commitment to the arts by supporting the creative reuse of materials within New York City’s arts and cultural communities.
Currently, I am furthering my education through NYU’s Interactive Media Arts Low Residency graduate program, where I am expanding my practice by exploring the intersections of art, technology, and storytelling.
